In a display of regional solidarity, Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni offered full support to Pakistan as the country struggles with the devastation caused by torrential rains and floods. The assurance was conveyed during a telephonic conversation with Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
Momeni described Pakistan as a “brotherly neighboring country” and stressed that Iran was ready to extend every possible form of assistance during this difficult time. He expressed deep grief over the tragic loss of lives and widespread destruction, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. He added that the Iranian people and government stand shoulder to shoulder with Pakistan in its hour of crisis.
The Iranian Interior Minister noted that the scenes of devastation unfolding across Pakistan had saddened the Iranian nation, highlighting the urgency of cooperation between the two countries to mitigate the suffering of flood-affected communities.
In response, Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed heartfelt gratitude to his Iranian counterpart for both the offer of support and the sentiments of solidarity. He reassured that the Pakistani government remains fully committed to relief and rehabilitation efforts for the victims. Naqvi emphasized that international support, such as Iran’s, plays a vital role in strengthening Pakistan’s ability to respond effectively to disasters.
This exchange of solidarity underscores the strong diplomatic and humanitarian ties between Pakistan and Iran. As Pakistan faces one of its most pressing humanitarian challenges, such regional cooperation is not only essential for immediate relief but also a testament to the deep-rooted bonds of brotherhood between the two neighbours.

Playing his first game of the series, Connolly produced a sensational spell of 5-22, surpassing a two-decade-old record previously held by Brad Hogg. Hogg’s figures of 10-0-32-5 against the West Indies in 2005 had stood as the best bowling performance by an Australian spinner in ODIs. With this feat, Connolly joined an elite group featuring Shane Warne, Michael Clarke, Adam Zampa, and Brad Hogg.
