ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic role in brokering the recent Iran-Israel ceasefire, crediting both the Prime Minister and the military leadership for their efforts.
He described the development as a major diplomatic achievement and a point of national pride.
Naqvi disclosed that India recently launched approximately 11 missiles targeting a Pakistani military base housing both personnel and aircraft. Fortunately, no casualties or damage were reported in the incident.
Speaking at a key security meeting with religious scholars ahead of the Islamic month of Muharram, Naqvi revealed that Pakistan’s Army Chief issued a stern warning to India, making it clear that any aggression would be met with a response “far greater in magnitude.”
He emphasized that while Pakistan does not seek conflict or harm to any Indian citizen, it would not remain passive in the face of provocation.
The meeting, focused on ensuring peace and security during Muharram, was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Chairman of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, and other prominent religious leaders.
Naqvi urged scholars to promote religious harmony under the message: “Do not abandon your sect, nor provoke anyone else’s.” He stressed their crucial role in maintaining unity during this sensitive period.
Addressing the issue of rising terrorism, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Interior Minister called for increased engagement with religious leaders in affected areas. He noted that terrorism can only be eradicated when local communities withdraw their support for extremist elements.
