Iran Says Conflict Was Forced by US and Israel
Iran has said that its recent attacks on United States military bases in the Middle East were acts of self-defence. Iranian officials claim the conflict was forced upon the country by Washington and Tel Aviv.
Iranโs Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, made the statement during a media interview. He said Iran did not start the conflict and had no intention of launching a war.
According to the minister, the situation escalated because of actions taken by the United States and Israel. He described the attacks on Iran as unjustified and illegal.
Speaking in an interview cited by NBC News and reported by Al Jazeera, Araghchi stressed that Iran had no choice but to respond.
He said the conflict was imposed on Iran. He added that the country had the right to defend its sovereignty and people.
โThis is not the war of our choice,โ Araghchi said during the interview. He repeated that Iran did not seek confrontation.
Tehran Describes Strikes as Response to โIllegal Attacksโ
Iranian officials have strongly criticized what they call aggressive actions by the United States and Israel. Tehran believes those actions triggered the current military tensions in the region.
Araghchi described the attacks against Iran as โunprovoked, unwarranted and illegal.โ He said such actions violated international law.
The foreign minister insisted that Iranโs military response was based on its legal right to self-defence. He said every country has the right to protect itself from external aggression.
Iran also argues that its response was necessary to deter further attacks. Officials in Tehran say the country will continue to defend itself if threats persist.
The statement comes amid rising tensions across the Middle East. Military activity in the region has increased, raising fears of a wider conflict.
Growing Regional Tensions Raise Global Concerns
The situation has drawn international attention as global leaders call for restraint. Many countries are urging all sides to avoid further escalation.
Experts warn that continued military exchanges could destabilize the Middle East. The region already faces several ongoing political and security challenges.
Iran maintains that it is open to peace but will not tolerate attacks on its territory. Officials say any further aggression will be met with a strong response.
The United States and Israel have not accepted Iranโs claims of self-defence. Both countries accuse Tehran of increasing instability in the region.
The developments highlight the fragile security situation in the Middle East. Diplomatic efforts are expected to intensify in the coming days.
