Once again, Iran has blamed Israel for drone attacks on several energy and civilian sites in the Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, and Qatar.
Iranian officials claimed the attacks aim to inflame regional tensions and drag Arab states into the ongoing US-Israeli conflict with Tehran.
According to a Foreign Ministry official who spoke to Middle East Eye, some of the recent attacks in Saudi Arabia and Oman were not conducted by Iran. The official said Israel orchestrated the strikes to provoke anger in the region and undermine diplomatic relations among Gulf countries.
Alleged strikes target Gulf energy and security facilities
The accusations surfaced after at least five reported drone and missile attacks targeted Saudi facilities. These incidents included strikes on the Ras Tanura oil refinery, Prince Sultan Air Base, and locations in Riyadh, including the US embassy. In addition, two attacks reportedly targeted Oman’s Duqm Port, a major logistics hub that has provided naval access to the United States since 2019.
However, the Iranian official declined to specify which of the incidents Israel allegedly carried out. Saudi authorities confirmed that drones and missiles struck several sensitive locations in recent days.
Meanwhile, Oman has also reported attacks on the strategic Duqm Port facility. The site plays a key role in regional shipping and international military logistics.
Iran claims Mossad network operating in region
Iran has acknowledged launching attacks on US military assets across the Middle East since Saturday. Tehran says it carried out these strikes in retaliation for joint US-Israeli attacks that killed Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior Iranian military officials.
Furthermore, two Iranian sources told Middle East Eye that Israelโs intelligence agency Mossad allegedly carried out some operations using an extensive covert network. According to the sources, Iranian authorities are now searching for warehouses believed to store drones and logistical equipment used in such operations.
Iran also privately informed Saudi Arabia that it did not conduct the strike on Saudi Aramcoโs Ras Tanura facility. Officials argue that the alleged attacks represent an Israeli effort to disrupt regional cooperation and escalate tensions.
Interestingly, the United Kingdom’s Defence Ministry has also revealed that the drone that attacked its airbase in Cyprus was not originated from Iran. In its message shared on the X platform today, the UK’s ministry rejected Iran’s role in the attack. Then who attacked the airbase of the United Kingdom in Cyprus? The UK Defence Ministry did not disclose it as an investigation is underway.
