ISLAMABAD: Bakhtiyor Saidov, the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for a two-day official visit.
Upon arrival, the Uzbek foreign minister received a warm welcome and was greeted by Aizaz Khan, Director General (Central Asia & ECO) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his visit, Foreign Minister Saidov is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and hold discussions with Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on various bilateral issues, with a particular focus on trade and connectivity.
According to the Foreign Office, a wide range of bilateral issues of mutual interest will be discussed, with special attention given to trade and connectivity. The visit is expected to strengthen the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
In other news, it has been revealed that Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Bin Salman Al Saud, is likely to visit Pakistan during May. This visit marks his first trip to Pakistan in five years, with his last visit occurring in February 2019.
The Saudi crown prince will be accompanied by a delegation, and during his visit, MoUs regarding a $5 billion investment are expected to be signed. The dates for the crown prince’s visit are currently being finalized.
This visit will mark the third in-person meeting between Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman within a period of five weeks.
In a related development, a high-level trade delegation from Saudi Arabia, led by deputy minister for Investment Ibrahim al-Mubarak, recently visited Pakistan to explore investment opportunities across various sectors and strengthen ties with local entrepreneurs.
