US Launches Strikes on Iran’s Nuclear Sites in Joint Operation With Israel

WASHINGTON: In a dramatic escalation of the Israel–Iran conflict, US President Donald Trump confirmed on Sunday that American forces carried out a “successful attack” on Iran’s nuclear sites at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, in coordination with Israeli military operations.

In a message on Truth Social, Trump said, “A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow,” referring to the heavily fortified underground facility central to Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “All planes are now outside of Iran airspace … safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the world that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!”

Hours earlier, Trump had left open the possibility of US involvement but did not commit publicly. The new strikes follow a week of Israeli air raids that reportedly damaged Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, knocked out air defenses, and targeted top military officials and leading nuclear scientists. In response, Iran has launched dozens of ballistic missiles toward Israeli territory.

The president provided a detailed briefing from the White House that evening, flanked by Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. “Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” Trump stated.

He emphasized that, while the operation demonstrated US military superiority, its ultimate aim remains securing a peaceful resolution. “Now is the time for peace,” he reiterated.

The joint US–Israeli strikes mark a significant widening of the conflict, raising questions about the potential for further escalation and prompting international concern over possible regional or global fallout.
