The United States issued a strong condemnation on Tuesday of the recent terrorist attacks in Balochistan, which claimed the lives of over 50 individuals, including 14 security personnel.
During a news briefing, US State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller expressed Washington’s firm denunciation of last week’s deadly attacks, which specifically targeted security forces and civilians, including the tragic killing of 23 innocent civilians in Musakhail.
Last week saw a series of terrorist attacks in Balochistan that resulted in the deaths of more than 50 people, among them 14 security personnel. In one of the most horrific incidents, 23 passengers were brutally killed after being forcibly removed from buses and trucks in Musakhail.
In another attack, at least 10 individuals, including police officers and Balochistan Levies personnel, lost their lives in a gun assault in Kalat.
Additionally, 14 brave members of the security forces, including 10 soldiers and four law enforcement officers, were martyred during clearance operations in which at least 21 militants were neutralized.
When asked about the attacks in Balochistan, Miller stated, “The Pakistani people have endured immense suffering at the hands of violent extremist terrorists, and our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those killed.”
He emphasized the shared interest between the US and Pakistan in combating threats to regional security, affirming that the US will continue to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Pakistan in its fight against terrorism.
Regarding the Pak-Iran gas pipeline project, Miller responded, “We will continue to enforce our sanctions against Iran and advise anyone considering business deals with Iran to be mindful of the potential consequences.”
He added, “At the same time, helping Pakistan address its energy shortage is a priority for the United States, and we remain engaged in discussions with the Pakistani government on energy security.”
