United States never asked Pakistan
WASHINGTON/ISLAMABAD: Pakistani Ambassador to the USA, Masood Khan, asserted that the United States never asked Pakistan to exit the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He said that the United States had provided assistance to Pakistan during the recent economic crisis.
Khan stated that the US also encouraged the UK, France, Japan, and Gulf countries to support Pakistan during challenging times.

The ambassador noted that the US left behind weapons worth $7 billion in Afghanistan. Those weapons are now being utilized against Pakistan. He pointed out that these modern weapons are now in the possession of TTP and Daesh.
It necessitates Pakistan’s acquisition of contemporary weaponry to counter these terrorist groups. Khan mentioned that the US has also agreed to supply Pakistan with modern ammunition.
Ambassador opined that the terrorist groups in Afghanistan pose a threat not only to Pakistan but also to the US and the regional countries. The destabilization in the war-torn country could have widespread repercussions.
Masood Khan emphasized that Pakistan is prepared for discussions with India concerning all matters, including the Kashmir dispute.
Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif earlier stated that the CPEC extends beyond a mere compilation of distinct projects. It symbolizes prosperity and mutual development.
He stated, “Over the past decade, the CPEC has emerged as the foundation of Pakistan’s socio-economic trajectory, alleviating debilitating energy shortages. The project fostered connectivity and integration not only within the nation’s diverse regions but also with neighboring countries.”
