Ukraine destroys one more river bridge in Kursk region of Russia

Ukraine announced on Sunday that it had struck a second key bridge in Russia’s Kursk region, aiming to disrupt Moscow’s supply lines as Kyiv’s unprecedented incursion into Russian territory extended into its second week.

Meanwhile, Russia intensified its offensive in eastern Ukraine, claiming the capture of another village just a few kilometers from the Ukrainian-held logistics hub of Pokrovsk.

“Another bridge down,” Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk stated on Telegram, sharing an aerial video of an explosion ripping through a bridge near the Russian town of Zvannoye.

“The Air Force continues to cripple the enemy’s logistics with precision air strikes,” he added.

A video posted by Oleshchuk on social media shows an airstrike hitting a bridge in Russia’s Kursk region, with local reports confirming that the bridge over the Seym River was targeted.

Oleshchuk commended the accuracy of Ukrainian pilots in striking enemy strongholds and logistics.

The exact timing of the attack remains unclear. While Oleshchuk did not specify a date, Russian military bloggers posted photos of the damaged bridge that appeared to have been taken on Saturday.

Kyiv had launched a significant operation across the border on August 6, deploying troops and armored vehicles in its most extensive assault on Russian soil since the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.

On Friday, Ukraine reported the destruction of another bridge in the nearby town of Glushkovo, also located along the Seym River, which flows through the region.
