ISLAMABAD: The United Kingdom removed Pakistan from its list of high risk countries after the FATF shifted Pakistan from its grey list to white list.
The UKโs Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office today announced the British government has amended its list of โHigh Risk Third Countriesโ through a statutory instrument.
Consequently, โThe amendment removes Pakistan from the list in accordance with the decision taken by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on October 21.โ
The British government has welcomed the efforts and progress made by Pakistan to enforce money laundering and terrorist financing controls.
FM Bilawal welcomes decision
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari congratulated Pakistanis for exiting the UKโs high risk countries list.
In a message he shared on Twitter, Bilawal said that this good news will promote image, foreign investment and integrity of Pakistan.
In April 2021, the UK government included Pakistan its its list of 21 high-risk countries.
