Under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s leadership, Turkey has intensified efforts to promote reforms in international institutions, emphasizing the need for greater inclusivity, according to the country’s Directorate of Communications.
As part of this initiative, Turkey has launched a series of international panels across 20 countries to foster discussions on global governance reforms. The project, titled “A Fairer World Is Possible,” is part of the broader Stratcom Public Forum program.
Following recent sessions in Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Germany, the discussions continued in Rome on Tuesday. Additional forums are scheduled throughout February in the UK, Poland, Belgium, and France.
Fahrettin Altun, Head of Turkey’s Directorate of Communications, underscored the significance of President Erdogan’s vision, stating, “His remark that ‘the world is bigger than five’ is a call to restructure the international system based on justice.” The phrase refers to the five permanent members of the UN Security Council—the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Russia, and China.
Turkey has been a vocal advocate for UN reform and broader institutional changes to enhance global fairness. This initiative reflects its growing role in shaping international diplomatic discourse.
What’s Next?
The panel series will continue throughout February, bringing together government officials, civil society representatives, media professionals, and think tanks to engage in meaningful discussions on global challenges and solutions.
“We are not just identifying issues but actively seeking solutions,” Altun said, reaffirming Turkey’s commitment to achieving a fairer world through collective international efforts.
This initiative comes amid growing concerns over the effectiveness of multilateral institutions in addressing global crises.
