Sikh Leaders Applaud Expulsion of Indian Diplomats

Sikh Leaders Express Strong Support for Expulsion of Indian Diplomats

Prominent Sikh leaders in Canada have voiced their strong support for the expulsion of six Indian diplomats accused of involvement in violent criminal activities, including homicide, extortion, and coercion, as revealed by the RCMP.

The World Sikh Organization (WSO) and other activists have long asserted that India has targeted the Sikh community in Canada, viewing this recent development as evidence of foreign interference.

WSO president Danish Singh highlighted that Indian interference poses a threat to the safety of Canadian citizens, particularly those engaged in the pro-Khalistan movement. He condemned India’s actions, stating, “India’s criminal activities in Canada must end. We expect Canada’s elected officials to unite in denouncing India’s foreign interference.”

The RCMP has identified over a dozen credible threats to pro-Khalistan activists, including the 2023 assassination of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar outside a Surrey gurdwara. Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, founder of Sikhs for Justice, praised the expulsion of Indian diplomats and reaffirmed his commitment to advocating for a Khalistan referendum despite ongoing threats.

Sikh activist Gurmeet Singh Toor, who has also faced threats, described the RCMP’s actions as a “relief” but emphasized the necessity for prosecutions. British Columbia NDP leader David Eby expressed shock over the allegations, stating that such violent acts have no place in Canada.

Despite India’s denial of the accusations, these revelations have raised significant concerns regarding foreign interference and the safety of the Sikh community in Canada.
