Former Senate Chairman of Pakistan, Sadiq Sanjrani, recently visited Lisbon, Portugal, to meet with Prince Rahim Aga Khan, the newly appointed 50th Imam of the Ismaili Muslim community. The meeting was also attended by Sultan Ali Allana, a prominent figure within the Ismaili community.
During the meeting, Sanjrani expressed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, who died at the age of 88 in Lisbon. He paid tribute to the late Aga Khan’s lifelong dedication to humanitarian causes, stating, “Pakistan has lost a true friend and a great humanitarian.” He further remarked, “The late Prince Karim Aga Khan’s services to humanity will always be remembered.”
Sanjrani also conveyed his hopes that Prince Rahim Al-Husseini will continue his father’s mission of serving humanity, emphasizing the importance of the ongoing philanthropic efforts led by the Aga Khan Development Network.
Prince Karim Aga Khan IV was laid to rest in a private ceremony in Aswan, Egypt, as per his wishes. His son, Prince Rahim Al-Husseini, has been named as his successor, becoming the Aga Khan V.
The meeting in Lisbon underscores the strong ties between Pakistan and the Ismaili community, reflecting a shared commitment to humanitarian initiatives and mutual respect.
