Retired U.S. Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor has issued a stark warning regarding Israel’s deteriorating security landscape, stating that the country is in an “extremely critical” state as its air defense systems begin to falter.
According to Macgregor, nearly a third of Tel Aviv has either been destroyed or heavily damaged, and he expects the destruction to worsen. He noted that a significant portion of the Israeli Air Force has reportedly been relocated to Cyprus in a bid to shield aircraft from further attacks.
“In all honesty, Israel finds itself in a very precarious and dangerous position,” Macgregor said, describing the situation as “hanging by a thread.” He warned that the nation’s missile defense and air defense capabilities may only be able to hold out for a few more days.
Reports from individuals currently in Israel, according to Macgregor, indicate that the Iron Dome — once hailed as a robust missile defense system — is now struggling under the scale and intensity of recent attacks. “It’s no longer functioning as a shield — it’s become more like a sieve,” he emphasized, suggesting the system is failing to intercept incoming threats effectively.
The retired colonel’s grim assessment underscores the seriousness of the escalating conflict and the mounting challenges facing Israel’s defense infrastructure amid sustained assaults.
