Queen Rania of Jordan criticized Western leaders for what she referred to as a “glaring double standard” in their response to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza due to the deadly Israeli bombardment and blockade.
She pointed out that over 5,700 Palestinians in Gaza, including a significant number of children, women, and elderly individuals, have lost their lives in the air strikes.
Queen of Jordan also mentioned that hospitals are struggling due to low supplies resulting from the Israeli blockade imposed since October 7 in response to Hamas attacks.
In an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, Queen Rania expressed her disappointment with the world’s response to the ongoing crisis.
She highlighted the disparity in how the world reacted when Israel was attacked on October 7 compared to the current situation in Gaza.
She noted the silence from the international community and the absence of calls for a ceasefire, which she found concerning.
Queen Rania also mentioned the perception in the Arab world that Western support for Israel in this context is seen as contributing to the loss of civilian lives in Gaza, leading to a sense of Western complicity.
She questioned the double standard in the world’s response, asking whether it is considered wrong to kill an entire family at gunpoint while shelling them to death is deemed acceptable. She found this inconsistency to be shocking to the Arab world.
Actress Maisa Hadi arrested for her social posts against Gaza Bombing
Meanwhile,
A leading Arab-Israel actress Maisa Hadi has been arrested for her social media post related to Hamas’s October 7 attack on Israel.
Maisa Abdel Hadi, who resides in the northern Israeli city of Nazareth, was taken into custody on Monday. Hadi is expected to remain in detention until Thursday.
She is among a growing number of Arab Israelis who have faced detention due to their social media posts discussing the ongoing conflict.
Hadi allegedly shared an image depicting a bulldozer breaching the fence separating the Gaza Strip and Israel during the October 7 attack by Hamas, the Islamist militant group.

Israel contends that this attack resulted in the deaths of over 1,400 people, while the Hamas government in Gaza claims that more than 5,000 individuals have been killed in Israel’s retaliatory strikes on the coastal territory.
In her caption, she wrote, “Let’s go Berlin-style,” alluding to the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, which had divided Germany.
