Prime Minister Shehbaz reaches Ankara to attend Erdogan’s inauguration today

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reached Ankara, Turkiye today to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Erdogan.

Turkish President invited PM Shehbaz Sharif to attend the ceremony of President Erdogan today in Ankara.

Turkish officials warmly received PM Shehbaz at the Ankara Esenboga Airport.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb and PM’s special assistant Tariq Fatemi are accompanying the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

During his stay, the Prime Minister will also meet prominent business leaders representing the energy, infrastructure, food processing, and consumer goods sectors.

Meanwhile, the Turkish government is holding an inauguration ceremony on June 3 (today) in Ankara.

Turkish President Erdogan secured more than 52 percent votes in the runoff elections, winning the President’s portfolio for the third straight term.

Prime Minister’s visit will be a reaffirmation of the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Türkiye.

PM Shehbaz to extend felicitations to Erdogan

“The Prime Minister will convey warm felicitations on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan to President Erdogan. Erdogan has been re-elected as President of Türkiye on 28 May 2023,” Embassy said in a statement issued today.

Importantly, PM Shehbaz will also extend an invitation to President Erdogan to attend the 7th Meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) in Islamabad.

Moreover, the meeting will further momentum to the diverse and multifaceted strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye.

The Pakistan-Türkiye relationship is deeply embedded in commonalities of faith, culture, and history. Also, both countries have strengthened their ties with mutual trust and convergence of views on regional and global matters.

Frequent leadership-level exchanges are a defining feature of the eternal bonds of friendship between the two countries.

Foreign Office announcement

The Foreign Office of Pakistan also announced the official visit of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Ankara on Saturday.

The FO spokesperson Zahra Baloch said that on the invitation of the Turkish President, PM Shehbaz is visiting Turkey to attend the inauguration ceremony on Saturday.
