Pakistan and Bangladesh Commit to Collaborative Efforts for South Asia’s Advancement

PM Shehbaz Sharif Seeks Enhanced Ties with Bangladesh in Call with Chief Adviser Yunus

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed a strong desire to strengthen relations with Bangladesh during a telephone conversation with Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of Bangladesh. Both leaders emphasized the importance of closer collaboration for the advancement and prosperity of their nations.

During their discussion, they agreed on the crucial role of regional cooperation in improving the lives of South Asians. PM Sharif congratulated Yunus on his new role and commended his contributions to Bangladesh’s socio-economic development. He also extended sympathies for the recent flood damage in Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister highlighted the significance of revitalizing bilateral relations through increased cooperation in various areas, including commerce, culture, and people-to-people connections. He noted the deep historical, religious, and cultural ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh and expressed a keen interest in enhancing these connections.

This dialogue follows PM Sharif’s offer of comprehensive support to Bangladesh in response to the severe flooding caused by relentless monsoon rains, which have affected millions in the country. Over a dozen people have died, and 4.5 million have been impacted by the floods, as reported by Bangladesh’s disaster management and relief ministry.

The discussion also coincides with recent political developments in Bangladesh, including the resignation of Sheikh Hasina amid mass protests and unrest. The situation has led to renewed hopes for improved relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
