ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with his Chinese counterpart at the United Nations Mission Office of the People’s Republic of China in New York to discuss in detail the bilateral relations and security issues between Pakistan and China.
The Chinese Interior Minister commended Pakistan for establishing the Special Protection Unit (SPU) in Islamabad, dedicated to the protection of foreigners, especially Chinese citizens. He assured full cooperation in the training and other operational matters of the SPU.
During the meeting, the Chinese Interior Minister reiterated the longstanding friendship between the two nations, referring to Pakistan and China as “friends in all seasons.” Minister Naqvi briefed his counterpart on the progress of the investigation into the tragic incident at the Dasu Power Project, highlighting the diligent and professional efforts of Pakistani institutions in tracing the case.
In a gesture of strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing security cooperation, the Chinese Interior Minister extended an invitation to Minister Naqvi to participate in the Global Security Forum in China this coming September. Minister Naqvi graciously accepted the invitation.
Expressing his sentiments, Naqvi said, “We are all proud of our friendship with China. Pakistan-China friendship is an example for the world. Foolproof arrangements have been made for the security of Chinese citizens.” His remarks underscored the deep-rooted and exemplary relations between the two countries, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese nationals within its borders.
