WASHINGTON: First Lady Melania Trump has released a new audiobook — but it isn’t her voice narrating it. Instead, she has used artificial intelligence to generate a lifelike vocal replica of herself to tell the story.
The seven-hour audiobook, titled Melania – The AI Audiobook, was unveiled on Thursday via social media. Priced at $25, it is promoted as “my story, my perspective, the truth,” with the narration crafted to sound exactly like Melania’s distinctive accent.
In a promotional video, a voice resembling the Slovenian-born former model delivers the tagline over stylized, AI-generated visuals of her face. It remains unclear whether the video features Melania herself or the AI version of her voice.
“I am honored to bring you Melania – The AI Audiobook – narrated entirely using artificial intelligence in my own voice,” she wrote. “Let the future of publishing begin.”
According to the official website, the voice was developed “under Mrs. Trump’s direction and supervision.” It also notes that versions in multiple languages will be released later this year.
The AI audiobook follows the October release of her memoir’s physical edition, which included a limited, signed collector’s version printed on premium paper and priced at $150.
The launch is particularly notable given Melania’s previous warnings about deepfakes and the misuse of AI technology. Just days before the audiobook’s release, she stood alongside President Donald Trump as he signed a bill criminalizing the distribution of “revenge porn,” including content generated using artificial intelligence.
Melania had earlier championed the Take It Down Act, speaking out in March against harmful online content like deepfakes during her first solo public appearance since her husband’s return to power.
While she has remained a low-profile figure in Washington since Donald Trump’s re-election, Melania continues to manage her public image through carefully curated projects. In addition to the AI audiobook, she is reportedly working on a documentary series with Amazon in a deal worth tens of millions of dollars.
