Massive Turnout Anticipated: 20,000 Muslims to Attend 61st ISNA Convention in Dallas

61st ISNA Convention

DALLAS: The 61st annual convention of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) has officially kicked off at the Anatole Convention Centre in Dallas, where approximately 20,000 attendees are expected to gather.

This landmark event marks a significant milestone as it is the first time ISNA’s convention is being held in Dallas, reflecting the organization’s longstanding tradition of hosting this major event across different states in the United States.

On the inaugural day, which was Friday, the convention began with a press conference featuring ISNA’s central president and other key officials.

During this briefing, it was announced that the convention will host over 150 distinguished speakers, who will provide insights and discussions on a variety of topics.

This year’s convention is structured to include a range of activities aimed at engaging attendees and fostering community interactions.

Among the diverse activities planned are roundtable discussions, interfaith receptions, and a bustling ISNA Bazaar, which boasts more than 350 booths.

Attendees can also look forward to recreational events, including sports and entertainment programs. The convention will feature performances by renowned singers and Qawwali sessions, enriching the cultural experience for participants.

Following the Friday prayers, the inaugural ceremony was attended by a host of officials, community leaders, and representatives from various faiths.

The presence of international leaders, senior federal government officials, and members from different faith communities underscores the convention’s role in promoting dialogue and unity.

ISNA, known as the largest representative organization of Muslims in North America, has been organizing these annual conventions since its establishment in 1963. The primary goal of this year’s event is to promote peace and goodwill among people of different faiths.

Additionally, the convention aims to address key issues faced by the Muslim community in North America and advocate for international concerns affecting Muslims, including the situations in Palestine, Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), and Sudan, among others.

ISNA President Safaa Zarzour, Convention Chair Azhar Azeez, Mujeeb Qazi, the first Muslim chaplain in the American Army, and other prominent figures expressed their enthusiasm for the convention’s objectives.

Zarzour highlighted the convention’s role as a platform for cross-religious dialogue and emphasized its significance as an event for all of America, not just the Muslim community.

He noted that the convention serves as a means of representation for individuals from various faiths, their families, businesses, and volunteer organizations, underscoring the critical role of religion in addressing societal challenges and fostering social change.
