In San Francisco, USA, a significant event is unfolding as the polling process commences for a referendum advocating for the independence of Khalistan, led by the Sikh community.

Thousands of Sikh participants from various parts of the United States, including notable figures like Gurpatwant Singh Pannu, actively contribute to this pivotal process, engaging in precise voting procedures under heightened security measures.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannu plays a crucial role in safeguarding the integrity and security of the proceedings, emphasizing the importance of a fair and transparent voting process.

The Sikh Center serves as the focal point for the voting process, hosting international observers and showcasing diverse and inclusive participation in the referendum.

The voting process, anticipated to span eight hours, draws attention from Sikh leaders who highlight grievances related to discriminatory practices by the Indian government, perceived unjust policies, and reported atrocities against the Sikh community.

Accusing the Modi government of employing violence and oppression to suppress the Khalistan movement, Sikh leaders underscore the urgency of their collective desire to liberate themselves from what they perceive as “oppressive rule” imposed by Indian authorities.

The Sikh Brotherhood, comprising 35 lakh united Sikhs, pledges unwavering dedication to the pursuit of an independent Khalistan, envisioning a region from the River Jhelum to Wagah. Conducted under the banner of “Sikhs for Justice” (SFJ), the “Khalistan Referendum” aims to draw attention to the injustices faced by Sikhs in India.

India finds itself under international scrutiny for alleged support of terrorism and extremism, with the situation in occupied Kashmir serving as a stark illustration of the Modi government’s stringent policies.

The Sikh Brotherhood emphatically asserts its commitment to attaining independence for Khalistan and addresses the Kashmir issue, insisting that it remains unaddressed by India in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

Initiated in London on October 31, 2021, the Khalistan Referendum has seen participation in voting from locations including Canada, Switzerland, Australia, England, and Italy, reflecting a global effort to draw attention to the aspirations of the Sikh community.
