Life Partner
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni announced her separation from her life partner, television journalist Andrea Giambruno. Giambruno had faced criticism for making sexist remarks about his female colleague.
In a statement on her social media accounts, Meloni confirmed the end of her nearly 10-year relationship with Andrea Giambruno, citing the divergence of their paths over time.
This development coincides with the 46-year-old prime minister celebrating her first year in office, leading a right-wing coalition government that strongly supports traditional family values.
Meloni emphasized that she should not be held accountable for Giambruno’s comments. She stated that she would not address questions regarding his behavior in the future.
Italian Premier expressed her determination not to be distracted by private life difficulties and stated, “All those who hoped to weaken me by targeting me at home will not succeed.” The couple, who initially met in a TV studio in 2014, shares a seven-year-old daughter.
Andrea Giambruno, aged 42, is the presenter of a news program broadcast by Mediaset, which is part of the MFE media group owned by the heirs of the late Silvio Berlusconi, a former prime minister and an ally of Meloni.
Recently, another satirical current affairs television show aired off-air video clips from Giambruno’s program. It revealed his use of inappropriate language and seemingly making advances toward a female colleague.
This followed Giambruno’s earlier controversy in August when his comments were widely criticized for being perceived as victim-blaming in the context of a gang rape case.
