A Hezbollah field commander reported that Israeli special forces faced substantial losses while attempting to infiltrate southern Lebanon through two border villages.
The commander dismissed the authenticity of images and videos released by Tel Aviv showing Israeli soldiers near Lebanese homes, explaining they were captured only a short distance from the occupied territories. He highlighted that the images were obtained at the cost of more than 20 Israeli elite soldiers dead or wounded, an incident concealed by Israeli military censors.
On Friday afternoon, after Israeli forces initiated an advance on Maroun al-Ras and Yaroun under artillery and air cover, Hezbollah fighters engaged them from ambush points, utilizing explosive devices, light and medium weaponry, and rocket-propelled grenades at close range. The ensuing skirmish resulted in numerous casualties among the infiltrating forces. Those who remained retreated, carrying the injured and deceased back under cover of artillery fire.
The Hezbollah commander affirmed that the Islamic Resistance is monitoring and countering every movement along the Lebanese border, striking Israeli positions with artillery and rocket attacks. His remarks come five days into intense ground clashes, which have seen Hezbollah units successfully block Israeli infantry from progressing into southern Lebanon, causing significant losses in personnel and equipment.
