Pakistani, Turkish Foreign Ministers discuss ways to help stop Israeli atrocities on Palestinians

The 2021 Israel–Palestine crisis is an ongoing violent escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict since early May 2021. It is characterized by police violence, acts of mob violence between the Jews and Palestinians, as well as Hamas rocket attacks against Israel and Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip.

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi met with Turkish foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on 18 may 2021 in Ankara. The foreign Minister is visiting Turkey to exchange views on the worsening state of affairs within the Israeli Occupied Palestinian Territories At some point of the meeting, the two foreign Ministers discussed approaches to mobilize the international community to help forestall Israeli aggression in opposition to the Palestinians. It became reaffirmed that the international community had a collective duty in making sure vital steps to help address the dire situation, restore peace, and facilitate a just solution.

The foreign Minister explained his Turkish counterpart of the sentiment prevailing in Pakistan in support of the people of Palestine together with the resolution universally followed through the national assembly of Pakistan.


The two sides discussed the continuing arrangements for the seventh session of the high-level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSCC) that will be held in Turkey this year.
Foreign Minister Qureshi appreciated Turkey’s principled and persistent support on the issue of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.

Emphasizing Pakistan’s devoted interest in a peaceful, secure, and stable Afghanistan, foreign Minister Qureshi demonstrated Pakistan’s consistent efforts to facilitate the Afghan peace process. He expressed the desire that the Afghan parties might seize the opportunity and work out a politically negotiated settlement. The foreign Minister also praised Turkey’s valuable determinations to reboot the Afghan peace process.

The foreign Minister and the foreign Ministers of Turkey, Palestine, and different nations, will be travelling to New York to participate in a meeting of the UN general assembly on the Palestine issue.

Earlier, the Saudi overseas Minister had summoned a meeting of the OIC govt Committee on Sunday to discuss the situation in Palestine. The Foreign Minister, as a member of the executive Committee, had also addressed the meeting.

As part of Pakistan’s diplomatic endeavors, Prime Minister Imran Khan and foreign Minister Qureshi have reached out to a number of nations inclusive of Palestine, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Indonesia, and others.
