Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian Issues Serious Warning to Israel, Describes Regime as ‘Gang of Criminals’

In recent days, Masoud Pezeshkian, Iran’s newly elected president, has voiced strong opposition to Israeli threats and affirmed Iran’s commitment to resolving regional crises, particularly in Gaza. The remarks come amid escalating tensions following a missile attack on Israel’s Golan Heights, which resulted in the deaths of 12 people, including many children. Israel has attributed the attack to Hezbollah and alleged the weapon was Iranian-made, although Hezbollah denies responsibility, and eyewitnesses suggest the missile might have been a misfired Iron Dome interceptor.

Pezeshkian’s comments underscore Iran’s stance against Israel’s military actions and its support for Palestinian causes. He expressed grave concerns over the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, where nearly 40,000 people have died in the past 10 months due to Israeli military actions. The Gaza Strip is facing severe shortages of food and essential services due to Israeli blockades and attacks, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis.

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has also condemned Israel’s actions, describing the regime as a “gang of criminals” and “terrorists” responsible for unprecedented levels of violence and injustice. His remarks, made during Pezeshkian’s official endorsement, call for a global reckoning with Israel’s policies and actions.

In a separate diplomatic context, Pezeshkian has signaled Iran’s willingness to improve relations with France and re-engage in negotiations to revive the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), provided that European nations fulfill their commitments and cease imposing sanctions on Iran. This stance reflects Iran’s broader desire to mend strained ties with European countries, which have deteriorated since the U.S. withdrawal from the JCPOA in 2018 and subsequent sanctions.

European relations with Iran have been fraught with tension, particularly as Europe has increasingly aligned with U.S. policies, leading to economic and diplomatic setbacks. The EU’s support for Ukraine and its high energy costs, resulting from a shift away from Russian gas, have added to the strain. With the recent willingness from Tehran to renew diplomatic engagement, European states may find it beneficial to reassess and potentially overhaul their approach to Iran. This shift could offer Europe a chance to decouple from U.S. foreign policies and seek a more balanced and independent stance in international affairs.
