Apart from the US sanctions on Iran and a bitter rival between the two countries, in the first nine months of the calendar year 2022, Iran’s exports to the United States marked 18-fold growth over the corresponding period of 2021.
The United States. imported commodities worth $11 million from Iran from January to September 2022, whereas, in the same period a year ago, the US imports from Iran was just around $0.6 million.
The two countries traded $42.2 million worth of goods in the quoted period, 42 percent higher than the quantum of their bilateral trade of $29.9 million in 2021, from Jan-Sept period, Tehran Times reported the other day.
The quantum of bilateral trade between the two countries, nonetheless, remains very low because of their enmity and the US sanctions on Iran but their trade indicates improvement in their mutual ties especially trade.
According to the US Census Bureau’s data, the value of American exports to Iran increased 7 percent _ to $31.3 million from Jan-Sept 2022 period. Whereas, in the corresponding period of 2021, the US exports to Iran stood at $29.3 million.
Earlier, the US Census Bureau reported the value of trade between Iran and the United States was $23.8 million in the first half of 2022, rising 18 percent from the figure in the first half of 2021.
However, in the third quarter of this calendar year a big jump has been noted in Iranian exports to the United States though both countries are known for open rivalry.
