TEHRAN – Iranian authorities have reportedly uncovered and dismantled a drone manufacturing facility allegedly operated by Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency in the capital, according to state-run IRNA news agency.
In separate operations across Tehran and Alborz provinces, two individuals suspected of collaborating with Mossad were arrested, said Sa’eed Montazer al-Mahdi, spokesperson for Iran’s Police Command.
The arrests were made in the Fashafuyeh district of Ray County, south of Tehran. During the raid, police seized:
- Over 200 kilograms of explosives
- Components for 23 drones
- Multiple launch systems and other technical gear
- A Nissan pickup truck believed to be used for transportation of materials
Authorities claim the suspects were preparing for sabotage missions, allegedly involving explosive-laden drones intended to strike strategic Iranian targets.
The bust comes just days after Israel’s large-scale overnight strikes on June 13, which hit multiple locations across Tehran and other Iranian cities, killing civilians and military personnel.
In retaliation, Iran launched a wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa, escalating tensions between the long-standing rivals. Israeli media has reported widespread disruption, with many residents seeking shelter as hostilities continue.
