Indian flag replaced with Khalistan flag at Indian HC in London

In a show of support for over 11,000 Sikhs participating in the second phase of Khalistan Referendum voting in Brisbane, a group of around two dozen Sikh activists replaced the Indian flag with the Khalistan flag at the London High Commission.

The footage showed the activists gathering outside the Indian High Commission, raising Sikh religious slogans and calling for the creation of Khalistan.

One of the turbaned men scaled the high commission from the front of the building and reached the top balcony where the Indian flag was hoisted.

He took off the Indian Tiranga and replaced it with the Khalistan flag within 30 seconds.

Meanwhile, the supporters on the ground removed the Indian flag completely as they raised the Khalistan flag.

During the incident, two Indian high commission staff appeared on the balcony from inside, and a few minutes of standoff ensued before the Sikh man came off the balcony.

This marks the first time that the Indian flag has been removed from the Indian High Commission building, as tensions between Hindutva Indian authorities and Sikhs increase worldwide over complaints of worsening human rights violations against Sikhs in India.

Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the General Counsel for Sikhs For Justice (SFJ),

According to Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the General Counsel for Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), the Indian flag was replaced with the Khalistan flag at London High Commission to draw attention to the continued occupation of Punjab by India and to convey that the creation of a Sikh homeland is the only solution.

Pannun also stated that the Narendra Modi government’s crackdown on pro-Khalistan Sikh activists is ongoing in Punjab.

He said: “In the last few days, hundreds of supporters of Khalistan Referendum, along with their family members, have been illegally detained and tortured in Punjab. Currently, there is a massive security crackdown going on in Punjab.

The government is involved in picking up those who are involved in the teachings of Sikhism, and there is a complete shutdown of the internet in Punjab.”

He added: “Since Operation Blue Star in 1984, the only goal of Sikhs has been the creation of Khalistan. This is the only solution, and Sikhs face repression from India simply because of this. The Khalistan Referendum campaign worldwide is a step towards having a Khalistan Referendum in Punjab.”

the second phase of the Khalistan Referendum

As over 11,000 Sikhs participated in the second phase of the Khalistan Referendum in Australia, developments at the Indian High Commission in London unfolded.

Furthermore, Australian Sikhs reacted strongly to the Indian Prime Minister’s attempts to prevent Khalistan Referendum voting at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, amidst a massive wave of Indian cyber security mercenary attacks on electronic voting machines.

It is suspected by Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), the pro-Khalistan secessionist group that organized the referendum voting, that Indian state-backed hackers were involved in the planned attack.

Furthermore, On March 19, the Khalistan Referendum Voting Centre, “Battlefield – Brisbane,” dedicated to Shaheed Bhai Harmeet Singh Bhaowal and Shaheed Bibi Baljinder Kaur, along with their nine-month-old son, Pavittar Singh, who were bombed to death by Indian police forces in Haryana on December 5, 1992.
