Indian Cop Violently Attacks Muslim Men During Friday Prayer in Delhi

Friday Prayer

In a disturbing incident that highlights the increasing discrimination against minorities, particularly Muslims, in India, a police officer in New Delhi subjected Muslim men offering Friday prayer on the roadside to brutal violence.

The shocking video of the incident, widely circulated on social media, captures the police officer kicking and punching Muslim men who were engaged in their Friday prayers. The footage has prompted widespread condemnation and outrage throughout the country.

The episode unfolded in the Inderlok area of the capital, where a large number of Muslims had gathered at a mosque, leading to overcrowding and resulting in some individuals praying on the road. As the worshippers were in the midst of their prayers, a group of police officials arrived and aggressively intervened, physically assaulting the men.

The video depicts one officer kicking and hitting the Muslims who were kneeling down for prayers, while onlookers surrounded the officer, objecting to his actions. The incident has raised questions about the treatment of religious minorities and the right to practice their faith without fear.

In response to the public outcry, the Indian authorities have taken swift action. The police officer involved in the assault has been suspended immediately, and a disciplinary inquiry has been initiated, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (north) MK Meena.

Congress Rajya Sabha MP Imran Pratapgarhi condemned the incident, urging the Delhi Police to file a case against the officer under appropriate sections and terminate his service. The incident not only exposes the brutality faced by worshippers but also raises broader concerns about religious freedom and tolerance in the country.

As the investigation unfolds, the incident adds to the growing discourse surrounding minority rights and the need for a more inclusive and tolerant society in India.
