The Indian High Commission has issued visas to 82 Pakistani pilgrims for the five day Urs celebrations of Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya.
These pilgrims are set to cross the Wagah border into Delhi on Saturday, marking a significant moment for many who wish to pay their respects.
Historically, securing visas for this annual event has been a difficult process forvisa Pakistani pilgrims, with many facing refusals from Indian authorities in previous years.
However, this year, all 82 pilgrims were asked to assemble in Lahore just two days before their departure to facilitate the visa process.
This positive development follows the recent visit of Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar to Pakistan, which has been interpreted as a hopeful sign for improving bilateral relations between the two nations.
The discussions during the visit have also reignited conversations about the Indian cricket team’s participation in the upcoming Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan, further signaling a potential thaw in tensions.
The Urs of Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya is an important religious event that attracts pilgrims from various backgrounds, and the issuance of these visas is a welcome step for many.
It not only allows the pilgrims to honor their spiritual commitments but also serves as a bridge between the two countries, fostering goodwill and dialogue.
As the pilgrims prepare for their journey, they hope that this gesture will lead to more open avenues for cultural and religious exchanges in the future, paving the way for better understanding and cooperation between India and Pakistan.
