Army Chief of Pakistan has asked the neighbors especially India to act responsibly and work in tandem to bring peace in the region. Hinting towards India, he said that she should also restore peace and play responsible role as far (Indian Held Kashmir) Kashmiris is concerned.
Speaking at a two-day National Security Seminar in Islamabad. Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa give a detailed speech on national security, regional peace and upcoming challenges in the region and facing the world.
He said that to increase security spending we have to sacrifice the human development needs and Pakistan did not enter the arms race like the hawkish neighbors. Currently, Pakistan faces multi dimension challenges. We are doing our bit but major contribution is needed form global players, said Gen Bajwa.
Army Chief said that Pakistan playing key role in Afghan peace process and it is acting with responsibility in the region. In addition, plus peace process in Afghanistan is Pakistan’s basic responsibility.
He said that world is facing another kind of terrorism now. With time challenges takes different shapes. Economic & sustainable development can guide us in future.
National Security is not only coping with local and external challenges. Trade, infrastructure and energy cooperation is needed in the region. National security is need of the time now.
“Unless our own house is in order nothing can damage us form outside. We have come a long way in peace but bit short of our objectives”, Army chief stated hinting at achieving peace domestically.
In the region, he said, CPEC is key objective for growth and central to our vision. CPEC is positively contributing to the regional growth and Energy and trade corridor is part of CPEC.
