The images highlight several of the four female navigators from the Israeli Air Force squadrons involved in the mission.
According to military sources, dozens of Israeli Air Force aircraft—including fighter jets, refuelers, and surveillance planes—were part of the operation, which took place approximately 1,600 kilometers from Israel.
All aircraft returned safely to Israel after the “complex” operation.
Iran Israel war:
In 2024, the Iran-Israel proxy conflict escalated into direct confrontations between the two nations. On April 1, Israel targeted an Iranian consulate complex in Damascus, Syria, resulting in the deaths of several senior Iranian officials. In retaliation, Iran and its Axis of Resistance allies seized the Israeli-linked ship MSC Aries and conducted strikes within Israel on April 13. Israel responded with retaliatory strikes in Iran and Syria on April 19.
These Israeli strikes were measured, indicating a desire to de-escalate tensions. Iran chose not to retaliate, and the situation reverted to proxy conflict levels.
Additional regional actors also became involved. The United States, United Kingdom, France, and Jordan intercepted Iranian drones to support Israel, while Syria managed to shoot down some Israeli interceptors. Iranian proxies in the region launched attacks against Israel as well.
Tensions flared again following the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the political leader of Hamas, on July 31 in Tehran, which occurred just hours after an airstrike that killed Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr. Both Iran and Hezbollah vowed to retaliate. On October 1, 2024, Iran launched a series of missiles at Israel, prompting further Israeli retaliatory strikes against Iran on October 25.
