Former U.S. President Donald Trump made significant revelations about himself and his case following his conviction for hush money payments. On Thursday, a 12-member jury found him guilty.
In an interview with Fox News Sunday, the 77-year-old Trump countered claims from President Joe Biden and the Democrats that he is a threat to U.S. democracy.
This interview marked the first time the business mogul has spoken with a major U.S. TV channel since his conviction.
“Now I’m leading over this guy [Joe Biden]… who can’t put two sentences together, that’s destroying our country. Look, he’s the worst president in the history of this country, and he’s a danger to the country,” Trump asserted.
He continued, “And you know, they have misinformation — ‘Donald Trump is a threat to democracy’ — it’s just words. He doesn’t even know what it means. But it’s like their slogan, ‘I’m a threat to democracy.’ I’m the opposite. They’re the threat to democracy,” said the Republican presumptive nominee.
President Joe Biden has repeatedly labeled Trump a significant threat to U.S. democracy, citing the former president’s legal issues, unsubstantiated election claims, and impeachments.
Thursday’s verdict made history as Trump became the first former president to be convicted of a crime in New York City, specifically for falsifying business records to pay hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
