Dubai’s skyline, already one of the most iconic in the world with its impressive architecture and towering skyscrapers, including the Burj Khalifa—the world’s tallest building—continues to evolve as the city aims to maintain its dominance in high-rise innovation.
In its latest ambitious project, Dubai has announced the construction of an ultra-thin skyscraper, the Muraba Veil, showcasing the city’s drive for cutting-edge design, according to a report by CNN.
Set to stand 1,274 feet tall, this 73-story building will be remarkably slim, measuring just 74 feet in width—no wider than a typical apartment. The Muraba Veil will be located along the canal that runs through Sheikh Zayed Road and will house 131 luxury apartments, each with two to five bedrooms, according to the UAE-based developer, Muraba.
The high-end residential tower will offer an array of luxury amenities, including a spa, restaurant, gallery, padel court, and a private movie theater, the developer stated.
The design of the Muraba Veil draws inspiration from traditional Arabian homes, featuring apartments arranged around inner courtyards and softened by greenery and shaded areas. The building’s exterior will be cloaked in a “veil” of bespoke stainless steel mesh, designed to be porous and reflective of the changing colors of the sky.
This architectural marvel has been designed by RCR Arquitectes, a Spanish firm that won the prestigious Pritzker Prize—often called the “Nobel of architecture”—in 2017. The project is expected to be completed by December 2028, but with prices starting at $4.9 million, the apartments are set to cater to a select few.
Rafael Aranda, founder of RCR Arquitectes, emphasized the importance of the building’s connection to its surroundings. “We are passionate about ensuring our buildings are responsive to their place, belonging to the site and native landscape. They must communicate with nature and be infused with the atmosphere of the local culture,” Aranda said in a press statement.
In addition to the Muraba Veil, Dubai’s skyline is also set to welcome another impressive structure, the Burj Azizi, which will reach a height of 2,379 feet and is also expected to be completed in 2028.
