Top Asia-Pacific security and diplomacy issues on agenda; meetings with Malaysian officials, expats planned
KUALA LUMPUR: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar arrived in the Malaysian capital on Thursday to attend the 32nd ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF) Ministerial Meeting, set for Friday.
Dar was welcomed at the airport by Pakistan’s Ambassador to Malaysia Syed Ahsan Raza and senior Malaysian foreign ministry officials.
The ARF gathering will bring together foreign ministers and top diplomats from 27 member states, along with the ASEAN Secretary-General, to deliberate on the most pressing political and security challenges facing the Asia-Pacific region.
Dar is scheduled to take part in high-level talks aimed at fostering regional peace, security, and cooperation through multilateral dialogue. He is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with his Malaysian counterpart and other key visiting dignitaries.
On the sidelines of the forum, the deputy prime minister will also engage with the Pakistani diaspora in Kuala Lumpur, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to its overseas communities.
