China’s foreign minister Qin Gang arrives in Islamabad on a 2-day visit

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister of China Mr. Qin Gang arrived in Islamabad on a two-day official visit to further cement the two countries’ bilateral ties.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari invited China’s State Councillor and Foreign Minister Mr Qin Gang to visit Pakistan.

This is the first official visit of Mr. Qin Gang to Pakistan since assuming office. During his visit, the Chinese foreign minister will hold meetings with the senior officials of the Pakistan government to discuss further improvement in bilateral ties.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and State Councillor Qin Gang will co-chair the 4th round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue.

The Strategic Dialogue is a structured mechanism that reviews bilateral cooperation in key areas.

The two sides will reaffirm the abiding vitality of the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership; develop a roadmap for multidimensional cooperation between Pakistan and China; and discuss the evolving regional and global landscape.

The 3rd round of the Pakistan-China Strategic Dialogue took place in July 2021 in Chengdu, China.

The visit of the Chinese foreign minister to Pakistan Mr Qin Gang is being seen as an important development in the prevailing regional situation.

A few days ago, chief of army staff General Syed Asim Munir visited China and held meetings with his counterpart and other senior officials of China.

The bilateral meetings between the leaders of the two trusted friends are essential to promote their bilateral cooperation with mutual understanding.

Importantly, China has supported Pakistan financially in recent months unconditionally as the country was facing a foreign exchange crisis.

With the help of China, Pakistan has safely avoided the risk of default in repayment of foreign loans while IMF and other donor countries have still locked horns over the upfront terms and conditions.
