China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed concerns about the escalating war in Gaza and called for a more comprehensive, authoritative, and effective international peace conference.
Wang emphasized the need for a concrete timetable to implement a two-state solution during discussions with reporters in Cairo after talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, as stated by the Chinese foreign ministry.
Additionally, Wang engaged in substantive discussions with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, addressing the Israeli aggression in Gaza.
The two sides reached several points aimed at contributing to the resolution of the crisis.
In a related development, Australia’s Foreign Minister called for a “sustainable ceasefire” in Gaza as part of her Middle East tour.
Penny Wong, en route to the occupied West Bank, emphasized her advocacy for a pathway out of the current conflict and a lasting peace through a two-state solution.
The tour, which includes visits to Jordan, Israel, the occupied West Bank, and the United Arab Emirates, aims to address the humanitarian aspects of the conflict, ensure greater protection of civilians, and promote de-escalation of regional tensions.
