Biden states, “He’s serious about all that talk of a ‘bloodbath’ if we lose.”
U.S. President Joe Biden stated on Wednesday that he is “not confident at all” about a peaceful transfer of power to Kamala Harris if Donald Trump loses in the upcoming November election.
In an interview with CBS News, Biden responded to a question about the potential for a smooth transition, saying, “If Trump loses, I’m not confident at all.”
He emphasized, “He means what he says. We don’t take him seriously. He means it. All this talk about a bloodbath if we lose is serious.”
In a March campaign appearance in Ohio, Trump had warned of a “bloodbath” if he did not win the election. He was discussing the need to protect the U.S. auto industry from foreign competition at the time and later clarified that his comments were related to that issue.
Trump has repeatedly claimed, without basis, that he won the 2020 election against Biden and is currently facing criminal charges in Washington, D.C., and Georgia for allegedly attempting to overturn the election results.
Last month, Biden withdrew from the race after fellow Democrats urged him to step aside following a lackluster debate performance that raised concerns about his age and health. As a result, Kamala Harris, Biden’s vice president, has now secured the Democratic nomination and is running against Trump.
