Axis of Resistance is capable of delivering a befitting response to Israeli attacks on Lebanon: General Heydari

TEHRAN: The Commander of the Iranian Army’s Ground Force has asserted that the Axis of Resistance is fully capable of delivering a severe response to Israeli attacks on Lebanon.

Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari addressed the possibility of a widespread war with the Resistance Front, as suggested by some Israeli officials.

He emphasized the formidable capabilities of the Resistance Front. “If the Zionist regime launches an attack on Lebanon and begins a broad conflict with Hezbollah, the Axis of Resistance will not remain passive. A harsh and decisive response will be delivered to counter the Zionists’ aggression,” he declared.

Heydari noted that the dynamics in the West Asia region have significantly changed following Operation True Promise.

“Operation True Promise has altered many old strategic formulas, creating a new reality in the region,” Heydari said. He highlighted that Iran, now a significant regional power, demonstrated its military strength through missile strikes on positions held by the “vile Zionist regime” in the occupied territories.

In April, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) launched extensive missile and drone strikes on the Israeli-occupied territories.

The retaliatory strikes, dubbed Operation True Promise, inflicted damage on Israeli military bases across the occupied lands. This operation followed the Israeli attack on April 1 against the Iranian consulate in Damascus, located next to the embassy building in Damascus’s Mezzeh district.

Commenting on the situation in Gaza, Heydari remarked on the confusion and entanglement of the Israeli regime in Gaza. He pointed out that threats from Israel against Hezbollah in Lebanon are not new, indicating a continuous pattern of aggression.

The conflict in Gaza has caused devastating losses, with Israeli actions since October 7 resulting in the deaths of at least 37,598 Palestinians, primarily women and children, and injuring 86,032 others.

Despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire, Israel’s ongoing actions in the beleaguered enclave have drawn widespread global condemnation.

UN agencies now warn that over one million Palestinians in Gaza could face severe starvation by mid-July, as the hunger crisis worsens due to Israel’s continued blockade of humanitarian aid.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has highlighted the dire and chaotic conditions in Gaza, describing the situation as “total lawlessness.”
