Air Link partners with Acer Gadget to assemble laptops, tablets in Pakistan

Air Link Communication Limited (Airlink), a prominent Pakistani smartphone manufacturer and distributor, has announced a strategic partnership with Acer Gadget, a global leader in innovative and affordable technology.

In a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday, Air Link revealed that this collaboration will introduce Acer Gadget’s ‘e10’ series of laptops, tablets, and all-in-one devices to the Pakistani market. As part of the agreement, Air Link has been granted distribution rights and will enter an exclusive assembly arrangement with Acer Gadget’s manufacturing partner, Shanghai Sixunited Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd., to produce these devices at Air Link’s facility in Lahore.

“This partnership represents a major advance in our commitment to the ‘Made in Pakistan’ initiative, aiming to enhance the local technology sector by offering high-quality, affordable devices to Pakistani consumers,” the company stated.

Following the announcement, Air Link’s share price rose to approximately Rs139, up from Rs132.14 at the close of the previous trading session.

Acer Gadget Inc., a subsidiary of the renowned Taiwanese multinational Acer Inc., is recognized for its expertise in hardware and electronics, including laptops, desktops, monitors, and peripherals.

Founded in January 2014 and converted to a public company in April 2019, Air Link engages in the import, export, distribution, and retail of communication and IT products, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and accessories.

Earlier this year, Air Link signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese technology firm IMIKI Corporation to manufacture smart wearable devices. Additionally, in October of the previous year, Air Link partnered with Xiaomi to produce smart TVs at its Lahore facility. This partnership complements their existing collaboration with Xiaomi for local smartphone production.
