PM Shehbaz and Raja Riaz will meet tomorrow to select the caretaker PM
Earlier, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the government would announce today the name of the caretaker prime minister. However, this is not going to happen as the PM Shehbaz Sharif and opposition leader Raja Riaz will meet tomorrow (on Aug 9). They will discuss the available names and select the caretaker prime minister on Wednesday.
Moreover, Rana also said that the Council of Common Interests (CCI) has approved the new census. It requires the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to perform a fresh delimitation of constituencies.

Therefore, this process can potentially lead to a delay in the general elections until March 2024.
If the delimitation of constituencies takes place, the elections would be scheduled for the third week of February or the first week of March.
