Four Indian Rafale fighter jets conducted a patrol mission over Indian-administered Kashmir, near the Line of Control (LoC), late on the night of April 29. According to reports, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets swiftly detected the Indian aircraft, prompting their withdrawal shortly afterward.
In a related development, the Indian Army reportedly initiated unprovoked firing across the LoC during the same night. The Pakistan Army responded promptly and effectively, according to a senior Pakistani security official.
The reported ceasefire violations occurred in the Kayani and Mandal sectors, where Indian forces allegedly used small arms fire. Pakistani military sources claim that their retaliatory action silenced Indian positions and led to the destruction of several forward posts.
“One of the Indian check posts was completely destroyed along the LoC,” a source said, describing the Pakistani response as both “strong and deterrent.”
Pakistani officials have characterized the incident as part of a larger pattern of what they describe as Indian provocation. “This reflects India’s growing war hysteria and could be an attempt to divert attention from domestic unrest and the ongoing situation in Indian-administered Kashmir,” one official suggested.
There are also unconfirmed reports suggesting that India has begun evacuating villages near the LoC, raising concerns over a possible military buildup.
“The Pakistan Army is on high alert and fully prepared to defend the nation’s territorial integrity,” the official added. “Any act of aggression will receive an appropriate and forceful response.”
No casualties were reported on the Pakistani side at the time of reporting. The Indian Ministry of Defence has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
India and Pakistan signed a ceasefire agreement in February 2021, but intermittent violations have continued to strain relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors.
