The Metropolitan Police in London have arrested a 41-year-old man of Indian origin for vandalizing the Pakistan High Commission early Sunday morning.
The suspect, identified as Ankit Love, faces charges of criminal damage and remains in police custody.
According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police, an emergency call was received around 5:30 a.m., reporting that a man was damaging the High Commission’s property, smashing windows and doors. Officers responded swiftly and arrested the suspect outside the building.
A police spokesperson from the Kingston and Chelsea division confirmed the suspect’s identity, noting that Love is the son of Indian politician and filmmaker Jaymala. Love, who has a political background, previously ran against Sadiq Khan in the 2016 London mayoral race, receiving 4,941 votes. He has also contested other political positions in the United Kingdom.
The attack has intensified concerns in Islamabad, where officials are denouncing such incidents as part of a broader pattern of “diplomatic terrorism,” following a string of alleged extraterritorial actions linked to India.
In response to the attack, security protocols around diplomatic missions in London are reportedly under review. The Metropolitan Police have assured that all necessary steps are being taken to safeguard foreign missions and diplomatic staff while investigations continue.
