VISAKHAPATNAM: A married Indian Navy officer allegedly murdered his girlfriend. He then chopped up her body and stored some parts in a refrigerator at his home.
The accused is 35-year-old Chintada Ravindra. He is posted at INS Dega. The victim was 29-year-old Polipalli Mounika. Police say the two had been in a relationship since 2021. They met on a dating app.
Ravindraโs wife had gone to her parentsโ house in Vizianagaram a few weeks ago. On Sunday afternoon, he called Mounika to his house in LV Nagar. A fight broke out between them. He allegedly stabbed her to death. He then dismembered the body.
Some parts were packed in a gunny bag and taken away to be dumped. The rest were kept inside the refrigerator.
Later, Ravindra himself walked into a police station and confessed to the crime. He told officers that Mounika had taken Rs3.5 lakh from him. He said she had been threatening to tell his wife about their affair. These threats caused repeated arguments between them.
When police reached the house, they found dismembered body parts in the fridge. They also recovered a gunny bag. Mounikaโs head is still missing. A special team has been formed to search for the remaining parts.
A murder case has been registered. The investigation is continuing.
The gruesome details have drawn comparisons to the 2022 Shraddha Walkar murder in Delhi. In that case, the victimโs partner also dismembered her body and stored parts in a fridge.
