India secured a commanding win over Bangladesh in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025, booking their place in the final. The match, held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, saw India outplay Bangladesh in all departments. With this result, Sri Lanka are officially out of the final race. Meanwhile, the hopes of Pakistan and Bangladesh hinge on the result of Thursday’s clash.
India’s Batting Firepower Sets Up Comfortable Win
After being asked to bat first, India posted a competitive total of 168/6 in their 20 overs. The in-form opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill gave the team a flying start, adding 77 runs in under seven overs. Gill scored a quick 29 off 19 balls, while Abhishek top-scored with a blistering 75 off 37 deliveries, smashing five sixes and six fours.
Despite a mid-innings wobble, India stabilized with a crucial 39-run partnership between Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel. Pandya added 38 off 29 balls before falling on the final delivery of the innings. Axar remained not out with a modest 10 off 15 balls. Rishad Hossain led Bangladesh’s bowling attack with two wickets for 27 runs, while three other bowlers took one wicket each.
Kuldeep Yadav Spins India into the Final
Chasing 169, Bangladesh never found momentum and were bowled out for 127 in 19.3 overs. Despite a valiant 69 off 51 balls by opener Saif Hassan, Bangladesh’s middle and lower order crumbled under pressure. Saif hit five sixes and five fours and shared a key 42-run stand with Parvez Hossain Emon, who chipped in with 21 runs.
India’s bowlers dominated from start to finish. Kuldeep Yadav was the star, taking 3 wickets for just 18 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy bagged two wickets each, while Axar Patel and Tilak Varma took one apiece. Bangladesh lost regular wickets and couldn’t recover after Saif Hassan’s dismissal.
With this win, India move into the Asia Cup 2025 final and will face Sri Lanka in a dead rubber on Friday. Bangladesh and Pakistan’s qualification hopes now depend on Thursday’s outcome.
