ISLAMABAD — India has launched a missile attack targeting Pakistani territory, firing from within its own airspace, confirmed Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Wednesday.
According to the military spokesperson, the missiles struck areas in Kotli, Muzaffarabad, and Bahawalpur, in what Pakistan has described as a “cowardly and provocative act.” Lieutenant General Chaudhry strongly condemned the assault, warning that the action will not go unanswered.
“This shameful attack was carried out from across the border, with Indian aircraft firing missiles without entering Pakistani airspace,” he stated. “Our air force responded immediately, scrambling jets and activating defense systems. No Indian aircraft was allowed to breach our airspace.”
Calling the strike a blatant provocation, the DG ISPR added, “Let me say it unequivocally: Pakistan will respond to this aggression at a time and place of its choosing. This act of hostility will be met with a befitting response.”
All combat air patrols and air defense systems remain on high alert as tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors continue to escalate. The government of Pakistan is also consulting with allies and international partners as part of its diplomatic and strategic response.
The situation remains tense, with military readiness at its peak and both countries closely watched by the global community amid growing calls for restraint and de-escalation.
