No Political Revenge
Former Prime Minister and PTI founder Imran Khan, currently in Adiala Jail, has declared a commitment to adopting a “Fatah-e-Makkah” approach upon returning to power, assuring that his party will not seek political vengeance.
The statement was conveyed by PTI leader Ali Muhammad Khan after a 30-minute meeting with Imran Khan, where they discussed the political landscape and the party’s future plans.
Imran Khan emphasized the party’s dedication to political stability and development, highlighting that the PTI’s return to power would be driven by the goal of advancing the country and the nation. Ali Muhammad Khan drew parallels between Imran Khan’s approach and Nelson Mandela’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa, emphasizing the importance of truth and forgiveness in propelling the nation forward.
This assurance comes at a time of heightened political tensions in Pakistan, with the PTI claiming that 85 National Assembly seats it won in the February 8 polls were “snatched,” labeling the alleged rigging as the “largest assault on democracy” in the country.
In a recent meeting, Imran Khan reportedly urged the United States to adopt a tougher stance on the alleged rigging in Pakistan’s general elections. PTI leader Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, who conveyed the message, mentioned that Imran believes the US should be more vocal about the manner in which the PTI was allegedly ousted from the polls.
Imran Khan’s commitment to a non-retributional approach and focus on national development signals a strategic shift amid the ongoing political challenges in Pakistan, providing insight into the party’s vision for the future.
