ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb reacted to PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s press conference on Monday by saying that he was suffering “political Alzheimer’s.” She said that winning by-elections did not allow him to issue alerts and call for fresh elections.
Khan is blinded by his hunger for power, the minister claimed while speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.
She asserted that the results of the by-elections in Karachi and Multan were a “referendum against you” and that the previous prime had rendered the nation fiscally bankrupt.
She went on to say that Khan had also left Pakistan’s youth unemployed and had traded Kashmir. “[Khan’s] totally corrupt files are like a slap in the face,” Aurangzeb said.
Commenting on the PTI chief and his party’s overall victory in the by-elections a day earlier, Aurangzeb stated that if Khan is referring to the by-elections as a referendum, then the same was true in Multan and Karachi.
“In Pakistan’s 75-year history, Imran Khan has taken the largest loan; he was a taxi driver for people and enraged friendly nations,” the minister said, criticising the former prime minister for begging countries.
Aurangzeb questioned Khan on why he had never written a letter to an international agency about his performance during the previous four years.
“Government can’t be formed by invading [the lower chamber] with six seats,” Marriyum said in reference to the increased number of National Assembly seats held by the ruling coalition following the by-elections.
Khan winning six seats, according to Marriyum, had no effect on the government, which had gotten stronger in the Parliament as a result of the by-elections.
The minister berated Khan for his government’s role in the economic collapse of the nation.
Aurangzeb questioned Khan about obtaining foreign funding for his party: “The country was at default in April, which was saved by the coalition government. You traded the country in exchange for foreign funding. Did you do anything other than install a plaque on Shehbaz Sharif’s plan?”
The minister also condemned the corruption case filed against PML-N leader Javed Latif’s mother, who is 90 years old.
“Today, your self-esteem is being harmed?” Aurangzeb remarked on Khan’s displeasure with the cases filed against him.
