Former PM Calls for Dialogue Over Conflict
Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed willingness to mediate peace between Pakistan and Afghanistan, urging an end to rising tensions between the two neighboring countries. However, he stated his readiness to assist only if granted parole.
The offer came during a meeting at Adiala Jail, where Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Adviser Barrister Saif visited the PTI founder. After their discussion, Barrister Saif briefed the media, revealing that Khan is deeply concerned about the growing border conflict and believes that dialogue—not violence—is the only way forward.
Imran Khan reportedly said that continued hostility between two Muslim nations would benefit no one and emphasized that a peaceful solution must be sought through negotiation, not confrontation.
Imran Condemns Terrorism, Praises Security Forces
Speaking outside the jail, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan added that Imran Khan condemned all forms of terrorism and paid tribute to the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s army and police in defending the nation. He reiterated that the former prime minister remains committed to national security and peacebuilding.
Gohar also confirmed that Imran discussed parole not as a political move, but as a means to engage in peace dialogue with Afghanistan and help de-escalate regional tensions.
He also addressed ongoing legal matters, including Imran Khan’s third conviction in the Toshakhana case and criticized the cases against Bushra Bibi as politically driven.
Barrister Gohar congratulated Sohail Afridi, the newly elected Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and praised the Peshawar High Court’s decision validating the election process.
Imran Khan also noted that while terrorism surged last year, incidents had decreased significantly during his term, highlighting his government’s counterterrorism efforts.
