ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan, the incarcerated founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has asserted that while Pakistan may be divided on domestic issues, the nation stands united in rejecting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modiโs aggressive posturing and threats against Pakistan.
Speaking to lawyers during a meeting at Rawalpindiโs Adiala Jail, Khan stated via a post on X: “While we reject this fake regime, we stand firmly as one Pakistani nation and strongly condemn Modiโs war-mongering and his dangerous ambitions that threaten regional peace.”
His comments come amid escalating tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbors following a deadly attack in Pahalgam, located in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which left over two dozen tourists dead. India has blamed Pakistan for the attack โ an accusation Islamabad has categorically denied, calling it a “false flag operation.”
In response, Pakistan has offered to cooperate in a credible and independent investigation by a neutral commission of experts to determine the facts.
Tensions further intensified after India downgraded diplomatic ties and suspended the Indus Waters Treaty. Indian Prime Minister Modi has vowed to exact revenge for the attack.
Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, has claimed that there is credible intelligence indicating India may launch military action against Pakistan within the next 24 to 36 hours under the pretext of these unfounded accusations.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that while Pakistan would not initiate hostilities, it would deliver a decisive and forceful response to any Indian aggression.
This heightened state of readiness has reportedly reassured Pakistan’s leadership and political circles, reinforcing the belief that the countryโs armed forces are fully capable of responding robustly to any provocation.
